ABOUT
Whether you're looking for quality career training or want to build the foundation for a four-year degree, Mercyhurst North East works for both its students and graduates. With 31 fully-accredited academic programs, including 24 associate degrees, and seven certificates, MNE is one of the most trusted providers of one- and two-year education in the area. Students can train for careers in competitive fields like nursing, respiratory therapy, occupational therapy assistant, medical lab technician, and physical therapist assistant. MNE also offers degrees in culinary arts, hospitality management, criminal justice, business administration and more, and has one of just 16 municipal police training academies in the state, where cadets earn Act 120 certification, which is required to work as a police officer in Pennsylvania.

More than 1,000 students are enrolled at MNE, including nearly 300 living on campus in the student townhouses and new suite-style residence hall. MNE is proud to compete in the National Junior College Athletic Association, and offers men?s and women?s soccer and basketball, men?s baseball, lacrosse and wrestling, and women?s softball and volleyball. Students also have the opportunity to participate in nearly 20 clubs and organizations, including theater, student government, dance and more.

Perhaps one of MNE?s benefits is the personalized service and convenience it offers its students. Students learn from skilled and knowledgeable faculty in a small, comfortable environment, and MNE offers its students tutoring and help finding internships and jobs. MNE also offers a learning differences program for students with special learning needs.

Students living in Erie can even take advantage of free bus service through the Erie Metropolitan Transit Authority, which makes five runs daily between Erie and North East. And MNE students can ride EMTA buses for free anytime, anywhere just by presenting their student ID card.

MNE also provides a variety of financial aid resources, including opportunities for veterans who have served after Sept. 11, 2001 to receive full tuition coverage, and tuition discounts for employees of businesses that are members of the North East, Corry and Girard/Lake City Chambers of Commerce. MNE graduates are also eligible to receive scholarships of up to $10,000 if they continue to the Erie campus to pursue a bachelor?s degree.

Located in the heart of the largest Concord grape-growing region in the world on the shores of Lake Erie, MNE is a 20-minute drive from the city of Erie and just minutes from the New York state line. It is one of four Mercyhurst campuses, all of which were founded under the mission of the Sisters of Mercy, who believe that education should be available to all students. The Mercyhurst Erie campus offers more than 100 bachelor's degree programs and concentrations, as well as six graduate programs. Mercyhurst opened its third campus, Mercyhurst West in neighboring Girard, Pa, in the fall of 2006, and has been operating Mercyhurst Corry out of the Corry Higher Education Council building for more than 25 years.
